Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing Lithium by Nirvana
Okay, so I dislike this. Not because of the cover or some deep seeded regard for Nirvana and the “music of our time,” but people should be singing along; Not screaming when they hear the chord progression, him recanting being horny, his rant on Cobain, or the elaborate strumming at the end. There are two ways to view this lack of participation: A) They were listening to his rendition, or B) The audience is too young to know who Nirvana actually is, but know that they’re only cool if they act like they do. Either way I’d be singing along; Every word, note, and mishap. Know before you show, people.
On next week’s episode I’ll be mumbling along until the chorus of Eddie Money’s “Take Me Home Tonight”. And even then only sing yell that phrase.
